3D Printer Party and FUN-d-raiser for Studio594 at the Fairmount Innovation Lab.
This event will introduce dreamers and doers to the power of STEAM. Named D’FLASH (for (Digital Fabrication Learning Affiliates and Start-up Hub), the event will put tech energy in participants’ ideas.
D’FLASH is a fun workshop/meet-up on 3D printing especially as it relates to start-ups. FAB Master, inventor, designer/engineer, entrepreneur and FABLabs For America tech guru — Jemuel Stephenson will kick off the event with some tidbits from 3D printing tech’s history and some info about what is happening in Dorchester. Then engineer and managing director of MASSChallenge’s MADE@ lab - Eric Lanoue— will show how 3D printing is affecting start-up businesses at MASS Challenge and beyond. There will be printers available to try out and short demos on software, etc.
Studio594 is FABCity360@ Indigo project incubated at the Fairmount Innovation Lab, a one-of-a-kind startup accelerator, incubator and space catalyzing inclusive innovation in Boston. FC360@Indigo is a transit-oriented, equity building strategy to use digital fabrication skills and education as an “onramp to the Innovation economy”. This will bridge Boston’s income and tech divides and provide pathways to living wage jobs for more of its residents. FABCity360 Coalition Partners at the FIL are working together to leverage, promote and support the creative talent in the FIL business accelerator and incubator. The design studio is operated and managed by FABLabs For America. The Fairmount Innovation Lab is a project of Artmorpheus, a Boston-based nonprofit whose mission it is to catalyze a thriving inclusive creative economy.
Open to All. Suggested Donation: $10 Students; $25 Adults
All proceeds from donations will go to purchase of equipment for studio594 at the Fairmount Innovation Lab.
