The late Liora Beer is the founder and creator of Artmorpheus and the Fairmont Innovation Lab. In 2009, Liora became the Founding Executive Director of Artmorpheus, and in 2015 was Founding Executive Director of its major program, the Fairmount Innovation Lab. The Fairmount Innovation Lab provides training and mentors to underrepresented artists and creative and social entrepreneurs, most of whom are women and minorities. She was dedicated to the growth and advancement of artist and creative entrepreneurs within the inner city of Boston.
Liora's experience spans over 20 years of work in creative industries, community building projects, economic development, arts, nonprofits, government and academia. Prior to Artmorpheus, she managed projects and initiatives through the City of Boston’s Office of Business Development. While there she coordinated Greater Boston’s business assistance providers, launched a highly successful Business of Being an Artist initiative, and provided hundreds of entrepreneurs with strategic guidance and resources. A founding member of the Massachusetts Artists Leadership Coalition (MALC), Liora maintained a full time visual art practice for 16 years, during which she was awarded a Fulbright in an artists’ exchange with Germany. Liora is the co-founder of New Art Love, a MassChallenge Finalist social enterprise that connects audiences with art and artists. A social entrepreneur, cross-disciplinary strategist, connector, community-builder, entrepreneurial developer, artist and catalyst, Liora's aim was the retention and growth of a diverse and vibrant creative sector to fuel social and economic prosperity.
In addition to her husband David, Liora leaves two daughters, Liza of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Talia of Chicago; and two brothers, Rafael of Van Nuys, Calif., and David of Pittsburgh, and over 500 entrepreneurs and businesses that have been touched and impacted by her time, her spirit, knowledge and diligence toward creative and social entrepreneurship.
We miss her dearly.
